What to Expect

VIETRI : considered since the Medieval times the gateway to the Amalfi Coast, is considered to be the capital of artistic and traditional ceramics, that is why, for generations, the inhabitants of this lovely seaside town have been producing precious porcelain which is exported all over the world. Absolutely to visit in Vietri are the workshops of the typical ceramic, each of these has its own laboratory, ideas and colors.

AMALFI : is one of the pearls of the south Italy, the biggest city of Amalfi Coast, the oldest Marine Republic of Italy and today it represents the most attractive city of the entire coast in Campania. Its foundation goes back to the Romans and from the ninth century rivalled Pisa, Venice and Genoa for the control of the Mediterranean Sea. Among the famous monuments of Amalfi there is the Duomo in Arabic-Sicilian style dedicated to St. Andrew.

POSITANO : the Italian vertical town so famous all over the world not only for the many terraces, stairways and colourful houses, but especially for the emotions it can give to those who visit it. One of the reasons of the popularity of Positano are the beach clothes. Colorful towels, bags, linen or cotton pareos and bikinis make what is known as the moda positano, so you can’t miss the shopping in Positano.

CASERTA ( the Royal Palace ): built in the mid of the 18th century for the Bourbon King of Naples by the Italian architect Luigi Vanvitelli using inspiration from the French Palace of Versailles, Charlottemburg in Germany and El Escorial in Spain. Step inside and admire the five floors of opulent ballrooms, hallways, apartments adorned with frescos, marble floors, mirrors, and tapestries. Also tour the expansive palace gardens, featuring ornate fountains and English and Italianate landscaping.

SORRENTO : overlooking the Bay of Naples, mount Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri, It’s one of the most popular tourist destination. According to the Greek historian Diodorus Siculus, the city was founded by Liparus  who was the king of Ausoni  and the son of Ulysses and Circe. Sorrento became an archibishopric around 420 AD. In the following centuries became an autonomous ducky that in 1035 was acquired by Guaimar IV of Salerno, any residual independence was ended in 1137 when was annexed to the Kindom of Sicily. Main sights are Marina Grande and Marina Piccola ( the 2 ports of Sorrento ), the Park of Villa Communale for the fantastic panorama, the Cathedral of St. Filippo & St. Giacomo, Monastry of St. Francesco and Via St. Cesareo being theSorrento’s  main shopping strret. POMPEI : is one of the most significant proofs of Roman civilization providing outstanding information on the art, customs, trades and everyday life of the past. It was the year 79 AD when the city was unexpectedly buried in the thick layer of 6 meters of ash and pumice stone which poured down from the devastating eruption of the volcano Vesuvius. It really is worthwhile to stop in the Antiquarium museum where are preserved many of the artifacts found during the excavations. The Forum, the principal square of a Roman town bounded on the north by the temple of Jupiter. The theaters Teatro Grande and Teatro Piccolo, used mainly for musical performances,  and the Temple of Isis, the Triangular Forum and the Gladiator’s Barracks. You can also admire the Stabian Baths, the House of Menander, the Amphitheater, the House of Vetii, the famous Villa of the Mysteries, and the New Excavations where wall paintings and furniture have been left in place. A magnificent painted frieze in a passage is in the Cryptoporticus House and in the House of Venus is one of the loveliest frescoes showing Venus on a seashell.

NAPLES : nothing can be compared to the exuberant, colourful, and sometimes chaotic hubbub of Naples. The city’s long history dating back to the Greeks in the 8th century BC, included Byzantine, French, Spanish and Austrian rule, each of which left its mark. Beyond the churches, palaces, and museums, the narrow neighborhood streets, broad promenades  and parks are sights in their own right. The Naples Harbor is always bustling with activity. Extending east from the Piazza del Municipio is the Molo Angioino and Marine Station to west where is the Eliporto with regular services to Isle of Capri and Ischia. To be seen is the National Archeological Museum holding one of the world’s finest collections of antiquities. The Capodimonte Royal Palace and Museum, intended originally as a hounting lodge for King Charles III, the Palazzo Reale di Capodimonte grew to become the royal residence and a place for the king to house the Farnese Collection that form the basis for the National Gallery. The Cathedral of the 13th century, the Basilica Santa Restituta, the Archbishop’s Palace and many other churches surround the cathedral. The Catacombs of St. Gennaro done during the 2nd century, like the Roman catacombs, are a maze of passages and tom chambers. The Castel Nuovo also known as the Maschio Angioino was the residence of kings and viceroys of Naples. The most beautiful church in Naples filled in the Early Renaissance work is San Domenico Maggiore built about 1300. The Cloister of the Monastry of Santa Chiara, the Cappella Sansevero, the former Royal Palace used as residence by the Bourbon Kings.
