The shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, the main town square, is one of the most unique italian squares, and holds the historical Palio, an horse race involving all the districts, called contrade, of the city. We can suggest you some restaurants and wineries famous for their quality as well as scenic locations. PIENZA : standing high atop a hill dominating all the Orcia Valley with extraordinary views. The ideal city of the Renaissance, created by Silvio Piccolomini who later became Pope Pius II. You can admire The Cathedral, The Papal Palace, The Town Hall, the lovely central square.
